Northern Lights (Autoflowering)
Buy Northern Lights Autoflower Seeds Online Few strains carry the reputation Northern Lights does. A near-pure indica descended from Afghani and Thai landrace genetics, it’s one of the most awarded strains in cannabis history and remains the benchmark other indicas are measured against.
Genetics & Lineage: Afghani x Thai landrace indica, autoflower version bred with ruderalis for a compact, fast-finishing plant while preserving the classic Northern Lights structure and resin production.
Terpene Profile & Aroma: Myrcene-forward with caryophyllene and pinene — sweet, earthy, and slightly spicy with a hint of pine.
Effects: Deeply relaxing, body-heavy indica effects. A go-to for evening use, winding down, or stress relief without excessive sedation at moderate doses.
Northern Lights Yield Indoor & Outdoor:
- Indoor: 1.5–1.75 oz/ft² (~400–450 g/m²)
- Outdoor: 3–4 oz per plant
- Height: Short and bushy, 2–3.5 ft — one of the most compact options in our catalog
How to Grow Northern Lights (Grow Guide)
Northern Lights Autoflower has earned its “easy mode” reputation for a reason — it’s resistant to mold and pests, tolerates minor grower mistakes, and finishes quickly. Because of its short, bushy structure, it thrives in small tents, closets, and grow cabinets where taller sativas struggle. Give it 18–20 hours of light daily and standard indica-leaning nutrients at moderate strength; this strain doesn’t need aggressive feeding to produce dense, resinous colas. Its short internode spacing means training is rarely necessary, though light defoliation in week 3–4 can improve light penetration to lower bud sites. Watch humidity closely in the final two weeks of flower — the dense bud structure that makes Northern Lights so potent also makes it more prone to bud rot if airflow is poor. Expect full ripening by week 8–10, with trichomes turning milky-to-amber as the finish line approaches.
Grower Notes:
- Frequently recommended as a genuine beginner strain, not just marketed as one
- Dense, frosty bud structure reported consistently across grows
- A favorite for small-space and stealth setups due to short final height
- Some growers note it finishes on the faster end (8 weeks) under strong light

This strain is great for anxiety and mild pain relief. Growing it in my hydroponic system is cool. Auto’s are the way to go. You can grow Northern Lights Auto for your anxiety and throw some Bubble Gum Auto in at the same time for lifting your spirits. Thanks for improving my life SWG

I love this strain! She grew to almost short. about 2.5ft. Lovely sweet flavor and smells nice.

I have had a great experience so far with the 5 northern lights autos I purchased from Sun West Genetics.
All 5 seeds germinated and the plants are about 3 weeks from harvest. This was my first grow! very easy! Thanks sunwestgenetics.com

Grew 2 plants and they are great . I’m days from cutting and they look amazing. Grew very fast and flowered nicely. They grew short witch I kinda forced them to. Germination was faster then the seeds from another company I also planted. Started inside then grew outside now finishing inside. Would definitely try more from sun west. Great package they came in as well.

Got a 3 pack freebie and turned out better than all my amnesia haze. It was grown outside and had a better structure post trim with better appeal. Smells amazing too. Indica dominant strains are better imo in auto form because sometimes the ruderalis really showcases and you have a super leafy end product. Genetics are key.

I really liked this crop, it wasn’t hard to plant, didn’t need much attention. Thanks a lot SWG for the wonderful autoflowering seeds!

Great strain. I can grow it either indoor or outdoor and the best thing is there’s no need to much attention. It is really amazing.

This plant had a slower start but ended up with a good performance. She responded well to my LST so was able to have about a dozen flower sites. Not bad for such a small space. Smells great fruity and piney. Buds are nice and frosty. It certainly is a head high, a bit euphoric. This is an excellent strain for new growers.

As this was my first grow, I made plenty of mistakes and of course it affected the growth significantly. She smells beautiful! Citrus Lemonade maybe. It’s also a very heavy producer, easy to grow, and can be very strong. Overall very happy with the Northern Lights Auto of Sun West Genetics!

This plant had a final look that I imagined it would, only a bit small and airy (due to my under feeding). Taste is good, fruity. Smell got a bit skunky after cure. Nice energetic buzz that turns into a nice relaxing body high, good for after work. Overall this was a great first indoor grow.

Has a nice subtle taste of citrus and sweetness. The scent of the dried buds is not overpowering from the jars but smell great if you get up close and personal with them. Great strain, very resilient with great weed at the end, even if you bugger up the grow! Can’t wait for the next harvest!
Travis Gibson –
The bud is fairly airy, but I imagine that due to harvesting early. I’m very impressed with the final yield. Happy and relaxed Indica stone. Not the most potent one I’ve grown, but still has a good kick to it. I am looking forward to growing it again.
