So you’ve already heard all about coco coir nutrients for marijuana as a growing medium for your seeds. Using coco coir is another way of performing hydroponics for marijuana plants. Hydroponics are methods of growing plants with which the main growing medium is not soil. When using coco coir, any supplement made for hydroponics will work most definitely well.

How to Grow Cannabis Seeds With Coco Coir Nutrients?

Calcium and Magnesium

Make sure that you provide the plant with additional calcium and magnesium supplements as coco coir does not naturally possess these in the required quantities. However, if you want to be a little more specific, there are supplements and nutrients that are specific for use with coco coir. When adding the calcium and magnesium supplements, make sure to do it as much as you can for the first 2 weeks of planting. You can then lower the dosages after the first two weeks.

pH Level

When you’ve made sure that you’ve taken note about the calcium and magnesium supplements, you also have to maintain pH of your plants. You can do this by measuring out the pH of your water induced with nutrients and supplements before pouring it over your marijuana plants. The pH levels should be around 5.5 to 6.5 only.

Coco Coir Nutrients

If you are quite unsure if you are using the right nutrients, the best thing to do is to stick to nutrients and supplements that are especially made for coco coir. These usually come in sets of three which consist of ones for different stages of growth.

NPK Ratios

So now that we’ve talked about supplements and water, let’s talk about the best type of NPK nutrients to use for coco coir. If you don’t already know it, NPK stands for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. These three always come together in terms of plant nutrients. They are represented by three respective numbers that depict the respective amounts present in the mixture.

For the vegetative and growth stage of your marijuana plants, it is best to use a mixture high in both Nitrogen and Potassium but contains only a medium amount of Phosphorus. Then for the flowering stage, you should use one that is low in Nitrogen and High in both Phosphorus and Potassium.
