What is THC?

For the basics, we have to know the definition and purpose of THC. It is essential to do so because we allow it to go into our system, which is why awareness is a must. Also, we cannot ignore the possible adversities it would bring amid its beneficial results.

THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is one of the 480 cannabinoids found in cannabis. It is a chemical compound that rapidly attaches to our brain upon cannabis consumption. THC focuses more on hitting our minds with its powerful effect by binding with a cannabinoid receptor, prominently the CB1, which prevents the usual process of information in the hippocampus, a part of the brain that has a role in making new memories. The reason it can do the said activity is that it stimulates cells to free dopamine, which will simultaneously create a euphoric feeling.

Medical professionals already proved the benefits of THC in the said field. A study from 2016 shows consuming THC-infused cannabis in a smaller dosage can enhance memory progression. Apart from that, it also treats nausea, mental disorders like stress and depression, and improves poor appetite, especially patients with diagnosed cancer and other illnesses.

Meanwhile, that doesn’t necessarily mean it cannot produce side effects. The adversities that will overwhelm a user who uses cannabis in higher dosage may end them up with extreme suffering since it can alter perceptions. THC belongs in a psychoactive category where delusions and hallucinations are most likely to occur. Also, motor impairment is something to look out for, along with temporary and permanent memory loss.

There cannabis strains that have higher THC levels than CBD, making it a compatible ingredient to make a THC Sugar. Like any other sugar, THC is also the same. It’s still a condiment that can blend to anything that needs sugar. Except, the contents are THC. For instance, adding a THS sugar to your morning coffee will give different and potent effects than the usual. In this case, the same impact you receive from cannabis with tetrahydrocannabinol is present in your coffee. But, expect that it’s not going to be extreme. However, if you wish to elevate the results, there are other cannabis-infused products you can add like cannabis butter and oil.

How to make THC Sugar?

The key ingredient in making the best THC sugar is your preference for THC cannabis strains. In this part, you will need to select that you highly desire equipped with a THC level that you can tolerate. Here is the step-by-step procedure in making a THC Sugar:

Cooking the weed

Before you mix the weed, you have to cook it first. Since we are not sure if a cannabis strain contains a pure THC level, we must convert some of the compounds into THC. By doing that, we have to do the decarboxylation, a process that will need you to bake the weed in low heat, preferably at 120 degrees Celsius or 250 Fahrenheit, for approximately 35 to 40 minutes. If you fail to follow the precise heat measurement, you will lose the potent side effects. After all, it’s the reason why you wish to have a THC sugar of your own. Its primary purpose is to convert the non-psychoactive compounds in cannabis to THC.

For the ingredients, you will need 3-gram portion cannabis, went under decarboxylation, and grounded. Strong alcohol and 100-grams of granulated sugar. Other materials are surely available in your kitchen.

Grind and Spread

The first method is to make sure you are roughly grinding your weed. In this step, you can use the same materials as chopping, or you can make use of anything that can crush your weed. Then, you will have to spread it out on a tray, preferably the one used for baking and the baking paper. This part is where you will need to adjust your temperature to 120 degrees Celsius or 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 45 minutes. A reminder that you have to check the consistency of the heat, or else you will lose the essence of having a potent THC Sugar.

Reducing and Transferring

This step is the part where you will apply an exception in the needed temperature. In this case, you will have to reduce the heat to 93 degrees Celsius or 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Afterward, you will need to transfer the weed to a jar, cover it with strong alcohol, and tightly secure the pot’s lid to make sure it’s secure from spillage.

Shake and Strain

It would be best if you made sure the lid is secured because you will need to shake the container every five minutes for the whole twenty minutes. When done, straining will take place through cheesecloth and any bowl. You will only need the contents of the container, so we advise you to discard what’s left in the cheesecloth

Mix and Bake

Finally, you will blend the strained cannabis and alcohol solution with a lump of granulated sugar. After that, you will need to bake it again for a temperature of 93 degrees Celsius or 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Do a regular stirring until the evaporation of alcohol occurs, and the sugar already achieved a golden color. In the end, your sugar is ready to serve as a condiment to whatever dish or drink you wish to have.
