Between cannabis flowers, edibles, oils, and concentrates, it may be a little bit overwhelming for you where to begin. However, we’ll focus more on cannabis concentrates for now.

Over the last few years, cannabis concentrates took the cannabis world by storm. Cannabis concentrates are one of the few best ways how to consume cannabis. Either recreational or medicinal, cannabis concentrates have the backing of all smokers and patients who used this product. What’s annoying is that there are many people who don’t know quite yet some other types of cannabis concentrates.

In this article, we’ll discuss cannabis concentrates and what are the types of Cannabis concentrates.

What is Cannabis Concentrates?

Before we start enumerating each type of cannabis concentrates, it is important for you to know what is a cannabis concentrate first. By the word concentrate, it is safe to assume that you are thinking of products that have a high concentration of Marijuana.

Cannabis concentrates are cannabis products that have undergone a process that leaves you with some of the purest and potent forms of cannabis. The process is called extraction. The extraction process eliminates any other plant materials and leaving you cannabis terpenes and cannabinoids of high potency.

Cannabinoids and terpenes are one of the few popular compounds found in cannabis plants and hemp. They are primarily the ones who provide therapeutic benefits and perfect flavor combinations for your marijuana to be enjoyed. One of the two most recognizable compounds found in a cannabis plant is THC and CBD.

THC is the primary reason for that psychoactive effect, while the CBD is used for medical purposes. While THC varies from marijuana strains alone, concentrated forms of cannabis have high concentrations of THC.

While CBD doesn’t produce any psychoactive effects, it does well for people seeking Marijuana’s healing ability. One good thing about Cannabis concentrates is they can be in all sorts of form; you can have THC-oriented cannabis concentrates for recreational use, CBD-oriented cannabis concentrates for medicinal purposes, or might as well combine both!

Types of Cannabis Concentrates You Should Know

Cannabis concentrates are like marijuana, too; they have various types. They can be made with any other type of Marijuana strain as long as you prefer. It is important to let your budtenders know what type of cannabis concentrate you are going to make to give you the best possible cannabis concentrate output. Here are some of the most popular forms of cannabis concentrates.

Shatter

Most cannabis concentrates are named from their final form. The same goes for Shatter, where the final form often resembles a glass that is refined and clear. Shatter is often clear or amber in color. It is one of the purest forms of cannabis concentrate. A very popular choice among enthusiasts and smokers.

Shatter is primarily made through the BHO extraction method. In BHO extraction, the solvent used is Butane. After the extraction is done, it then goes through another filtration process, which will allow the concentrate to be at its purest form. So, if you are looking for a hard-hitting high, Shatter is greatly recommended!

Wax

As we’ve mentioned earlier, almost all Cannabis concentrates are named from their final form. It is named Wax because of its waxy nature. The consistency and texture of this cannabis concentrate are reminiscent of a candle. Wax needs to be handled with dabbing tools as they can be a bit too sticky for a person’s hand to handle.

Wax can be smoked in a vaporizer or a rig. When the final form of wax is done, they are usually yellow. Wax concentrates may differ from their final form because of the extraction process they underwent. There are consistencies like honey, and some are less-sticky. These variations of Wax concentrate greatly varies from the heat and moisture levels during the extraction procedure.

Whichever type of Wax concentrate you are going to use, you’ll be more than satisfied with the outcome.

Rosin

Rosin is quite different when you compare it from the above-mentioned cannabis concentrates. It is because Rosin doesn’t need a solvent to be extracted. Instead, Rosin is made with just heat and pressure alone.

One good thing about rosin is that they can be made at home, as long as you have a parchment paper and hair-straightener. However, higher-grade rosin is made through a hydraulic press, which is far more ideal rather than using the hair-straightener method. The result will always yield a golden sappy and oil-like appearance.

Because Rosin doesn’t require any extraction solvents, they are the much-preferred choice for cannabis concentrate users who don’t like to deal with harsh and harmful chemicals. Also, because it doesn’t associate itself with solvents, rosin mostly retains the terpenes and aroma of the cannabis plant.

Oil

Oil concentrates use CO2 solvent rather than butane. Oil concentrate has runny and oil-like consistency reminiscent of normal cooking oil. Moreover, cannabis oils are used more in vape pen cartridges or in syringes. Plus, cannabis oil concentrates have a more appealing taste when compared to shatter and wax.

Oil concentrates, by far, is the most popular cannabis concentrate because they can be strictly made into CBD-rich variety too. Plus, Oil concentrates can be incorporated in your favorite edibles. That’s like hitting two birds with one stone, combining your favorite bake products and cannabis effects.

Hash

By far, the oldest form of cannabis concentrates on this list. Back in the days where complicated extractions weren’t invented, Hash concentrates were the most popular type of concentrate. Hash can be made in a variety of ways as well.

Common ways on how to make Hash is by compressing the kief together that will look like small disks of pucks. Another way of making Hash is made with ice water that is constantly sifted through strainers or screens to gather the concentrated forms of cannabis extracts.

All types of Hash can be smoked and are more potent choices than traditional cannabis flowers.

Conclusion

There is a myriad of ways how cannabis can be consumed. Cannabis concentrates are one good way of consuming highly-concentrated forms of Marijuana that are truly hard-hitting and packs the potency most people want in their Marijuana smoke. Thankfully, there are many types of cannabis concentrates out there, and some of them can be made at home too. Regardless of which you choose, consuming cannabis concentrate is a joyful thing to do!
