Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacteria (AOB)

Meaning

Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria play a crucial role in the nitrification procedure. Its role within one’s garden is converting the ammonia in the usable form for plants. The oxidation of the ammonia by the bacteria will change it into nitrite that plants will uptake. The ammonia-oxidizing bacteria are the kind of nitrifying bacteria where there are 2 forms: nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria.

Sample 1

“If you’re planting cannabis via hydroponics, the ammonia-oxidizing bacteria are a crucial part of the aquaponics systems. These microorganisms dominate nitrification-associated activities.”

Sample 2

“The ammonia-oxidizing bacteria are extremely concentrated in the regions in which abundant amounts of ammonia exist.”
